Hotmail password Spread on Internet
Microsoft says that Hotmail account’s password for some users has been deliberately spread by cyber criminals. As reported by Reuters on Tuesday (6/10/2009), Microsoft’s email service was successfully broken by the scammer and deliberately published on a website. However, Microsoft claims to have ‘off’ the site.
“We predicted the Windows Live Hotmail service owned by several users are vulnerable burglarized. The possibility of people who do this want to retrieve data for the purposes of illegal phishing,” Microsoft spokesman said.
Unfortunately, Microsoft itself does not know how many accounts a successful burglarized. But some analysts predict, there are more than 10,000 accounts that had broken illegally.
Phishing itself is a criminal action in the cyber world who use illegal data for personal gain.
“We have made steps toward blocking a site that displays the passwords. In fact, we have provided the opportunity for our Hotmail customers who want to reclaim their hotmail account,” Microsoft spokesman said.
